Scholarships For Minority Graduate Students

The United States of America is composed of several ethnic and minority communities that make up more than half of the student population. In the year 2002, the College Bound Seniors who were taking the SAT’s were listed as follows: African-American/Black 16.8%,   American Indian/Alaskan Native 18.6 %, Mexican American/Chicano 18.2 %, Puerto Rican/Hispanic 18.8 % ,Other Races (European, etc.) 19.2% , Multiracial 20.9 % , Asian American/Pacific Islander 21.6  %, Caucasian American/White 21.7 %. The list clearly reveals that the populations of the different minorities are quite larger than the population of the white Americans themselves. This is for the students taking up SAT’s for college entrance, but what about those graduate students who are in pursuit of post graduate programs? Are the same benefits of scholarships in terms of financial assistance or grants also provided for these applicants? Let’s look closely as to what are some of the different scholarships for minority graduate students available for minorities and the necessary steps or qualifications needed for their eligibility.

The United States federal government has been generous to its hopeful youth in providing generous grants and scholarships for its overall achieving and deserving minority college students. Whether the state follows the k-12 or the k-16 programs, the quality and accountability of the education provided for all students across the different communities are equal and standardized. The government continues to struggle for equal access and quality of education in providing substantial schooling beginning from kindergarten into entry to their professional careers and jobs.   Now, you have been made aware of the different scholarships granted for ethnic minorities during primary, secondary and college; what about those taking professional licensure exams or even considering post-graduate or Master education? Does the United States government provide their growing passion for education enough benefits to fulfill a promising career? Are the minority graduate students themselves aware of such existence of assistance solely created for them? Are the careers they want to pursue limited only to the high and middle income society?

In the agenda of continuous equality and better employment, the government, public, and private sector persistently provide assistance for post minority graduates through various scholarships for minority graduate students programs such as National Broadcasting Company Broadcast Fellowships- Northwestern University, American Psychological Association Minority Fellowship Program, Minority Scholarship and Fellowship Programs – American Planning Association, CIC Minority Fellowship Science; Math; Engineering; Social Science, and many more. The government continuous to eradicate unemployment and traces it back to the system of education both the private and public sector provides; therefore, they key to better employment statistics in the future, is to provide equal and quality education across all areas of ethnicities. So whichever promising career that requires you a longer education and training, the government sees to it that you are given the opportunity for the financial aid you deserve without compromising your chosen career. This is indeed wonderful news for those graduate minority students with the goal of continuous education for better opportunities and employment, and finally a brighter future for all the hard working citizens that are truly deserving of nothing else but the best. Thankfully, today, there are hundreds of scholarships for minority students programs available.
